The Journal of Health Education Administration has named Leonard H. Friedman, PhD, FACHE, a professor of health management in the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health (Milken Institute SPH) as its editor.
The Journal of Health Administration Education is a quarterly peer-reviewed journal, which chronicles research, case studies and essays by leading health administration educators and professionals. The journal addresses key policy issues in health administration management nationally and internationally and is a respected source for information about the latest academic and professional developments in the field.
“My fellow health management researchers and educators at the George Washington University Milken Institute SPH know that our field benefits from research aimed at strengthening the evidence for effective interventions, effective decision-making and priority-setting in health administration and management," Friedman said. “Our university’s strong position in publishing and reviewing health administration and management research will serve me well as the editor of the Journal of Health Administration Education.”
Friedman serves as director of the Milken Institute SPH’s Executive Master of Health Administration program. He earned his PhD at the University of Southern California School of Public Administration in 1991, and his dissertation examined technology acquisition in hospitals in Southern California.
Friedman’s scholarly work has concentrated on the mechanisms of organizational change and strategic decision-making in health service organizations. He has been the chair of the Health Care Management Division of the Academy of Management and Association of University Programs in Health Administration. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is the past-president of the National Capital Healthcare Executives Chapter of ACHE. In 2015, Dr. Friedman was inducted into the StuderGroup Fire Starter Hall of Fame.
Friedman will begin serving as the editor or the Journal of Health Administration Education on July 1, 2019.
