Brian Bruen and HPM Team Author Report for Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission

March 9, 2017

The Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) published a summary report on state Medicaid programs’ management on high-cost Hepatitis C medications, which was authored by several researchers in the Department of Health Policy and Management. The report highlights the key findings of a MACPAC-funded study that involved analyses of drug utilization and expenditure data, publicly available documents outlining state policies, and interviews with state officials.

Lead Research Scientist Brian Bruen, the principal investigator, presented the findings at the Commission’s public meeting on March 3. In addition to Bruen, the project team included Senior Research Associate Erin Brantley, Senior Research Scientist Erika Steinmetz, Associate Professor Lorens Helmchen, and Health Policy MPH student Victoria Thompson. The report can be found here.
